Midwives play an invaluable role in facilitating childbirth and caring for mothers and babies through pregnancy, labour and beyond. With this combined degree you will boost your skill set and open the door to rewarding career options.
You will gain 20 weeks of clinical experience in a variety of settings, which may include acute/sub-acute care, medical and surgical care, aged care, rehabilitation, paediatrics, community nursing and mental health nursing. Midwifery clinical experiences include all areas of midwifery practice, including pregnancy care, labour and birth, postnatal care and neonatal care. Your midwifery experiences will be obtained over 21 weeks of clinical placement across a variety of hospitals providing maternity services in metropolitan, regional and rural settings.
Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse and a registered midwife.
