Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Good passes at Year 12/Matriculation or the overseas equivalent, with passes in all subjects.
  • Recognition of prior learning: You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.

English level

  • English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no individual bandscore less than 5.5.

Other requirement

  • Students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.

Course Information

  • Our Diploma of Community Services provides you with the knowledge and skills required to perform as a professional community services worker, across a variety of settings within the social and community services industry.These may include areas such as mental health, homelessness, family and domestic violence, child protection, employment support and migrant services.
  • This interactive and supportive course ensures that you develop the skills, knowledge and confidence you require to support your growth as a professional worker in the community services sector.
  • If you are interested in pursuing a career in youth, family, disability, refugee, family/domestic violence, aged care, homelessness etc, this will be the ideal course to achieve this.
  • Most classes are delivered face to face, although there is some requirement for online learning using our e-learning platform.
  • While completing this course, our dedicated placement officers will find you one 150-hour practical placement at a community services agency of your preference.
  • Placement will not only ensure you are competent and work ready, but will also provide you with experience working as a community services worker, valuable networks and references for when you are looking for a job in the field.
  • Students in the day course will also take part in a community project that will give you the skills to develop, implement and review projects within the community services sector.
  • Part of the course training is offered in our modern simulation lab, where you will get to practice and experience intake, assessment and counselling skills with real life scenarios.
