Subject prerequisites
Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0 TOEFL Internet based (iBT): overall score of 64 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing.
La Trobe College Australia ELICOS (LTCA): completion of EFS level 5B with minimum 60% overall and 60% in final exam.
La Trobe College Australia Foundation Studies (LTCA): completion of Foundation studies with 60% in English (Academic Communication).
Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): overall score of 50 with no communicative skill score less than 50.
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 169 with no less than 169 in any component.
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 169 with no less than 169 in any component.

La Trobe's Diploma of Arts is a supported pathway into one of our most varied and flexible degrees, a Bachelor of Arts.
Choose from our wide range of electives – ranging from politics and languages to environmental studies and public health – and focus on the topics you're passionate about straight away. No matter which subjects you choose, you'll build skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration – highly sought-after skills that are vital in today's workforce.
Get a taste of university life as you study side-by-side with Bachelor's degree students. After graduating, you'll be prepared to continue on into a La Trobe Bachelor of Arts – which you can shape to your interests when you choose the majors, minors and electives you want to study. If you successfully complete the Diploma, you could even go straight into your second year of the Bachelor's degree with up to one year's worth of course credit (also called advanced standing).

Once you've successfully completed the diploma, you'll be eligible to enter the second year of La Trobe's Bachelor of Arts, or find work in administration or entry-level positions in a variety of industries.
