There is no upper age limit to studying at the University. You should be at least 17 years old by 20 September in the year you begin your course. If you are below this age, we may still consider you for admission but please contact us for more details.
GCE/GCSE
The minimum requirements are:
five passes at GCSE grade C (or grade 4) or above, including English Language or Use of English (IGCSE English as a Second Language, grade B or grade 6), and at least two subjects at A level OR
three passes at GCE A level and a pass at grade C (or grade 4) or above in GCSE English Language or Use of English.
Offers are normally based on achieving three A levels or equivalent at Level 3, although some University subject areas may specify differently. You must have a minimum of two A level equivalents at Level 3 in two subjects (ie two A levels or one vocational double award).
We base offers on a combination of GCSE/AS/VCE A level/A level/other qualifications or predicted grades, your personal statement and reference.

6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in R&W; 5.5 in S&L)
PTE Academic
62 overall with 60 in each subtest
CAE/CPE
176 overall (with a minimum of 169 in R&W; 162 in S&L)
TOEFL iBT
90 overall (with a minimum of 22 in R; 21 in W; 17 in L; 20 in S
Actuaries evaluate and manage financial risks, particularly in the financial services industry. If you are good at mathematics, enjoy problem-solving and are interested in financial matters, you should enjoy studying actuarial science. This programme with a foundation year offers you a route into actuarial science if you don't currently meet the entry requirements for the three-year degree course.

Year in industry
Students on this course can spend a year working in industry between Stages 2 and 3. We can offer help and advice in finding a placement. This greatly enhances your CV and gives you the opportunity to put your academic skills into practice. It also gives you an idea of your career options. Recent placements have included IBM, management consultancies, government departments, actuarial firms and banks.

The Actuarial Science programme allows you to gain exemptions from the professional examinations set by the UK actuarial profession, so our graduates have a head start when looking to qualify as actuaries. It also provides an excellent foundation for careers in many other areas of finance and risk.
