Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

  • Good second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering.

    Please note: International applicants who require ATAS clearance will no longer be considered for our September 2021 intake due to delays in obtaining ATAS clearance. These applications will now be considered for our next intake in January 2022.

English Requirements

  • IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Course Information

This degree will provide you with detailed knowledge of the state-of-the-art methodologies and techniques relevant to current and future strategies for the design of mechanical systems and components. We will pay particular attention to the development of investigative, modelling and computational strategies. The course covers fluid dynamics, solid structures, advanced and conventional materials and control systems.

Plus your Individual Project

Option modules

Choose one option module from:

  • Rotorcraft Mechanics and Control

  • Systems Engineering and Spacecraft Systems

Then choose four option modules from:

  • Signal Processing

  • Advanced Composite Materials

  • Robust and Nonlinear Control

  • Dynamics of Mechanical Systems

  • Advanced Gas Turbines

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics

Project

  • After completing all the modules, you will apply the knowledge you have gained throughout the course to solve an engineering problem at a professional level in the form of your Individual Project. You will define the nature of the problem and draw up plans for tackling it, presented as a formal proposal (including a financial costing). Your project supervisor will meet regularly with you for feedback on the project.
