Course Information

East Asian Studies scholars ask questions such as: What are the roots and the distinctive features of Chinese and Japanese cultures? How did manga become so popular? What constitutes a Chinese blockbuster and how different is it from Hollywood’s?

East Asian Studies examines the culture, language and history of East Asian civilizations in an interdisciplinary program offering a comprehensive understanding of the rich culture and emerging global power of China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. During your personalized course of studies you will gain a sensitivity to diversity and interconnectedness, conceptual analytic skills, research capabilities, and the ability to communicate in either Chinese or Japanese.
