Students qualify for Regular Admission to LMU if they meet the following criteria:
High school graduate with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Minimum composite ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 1010.
Students admitted under Regular Admission are eligible to register for courses at any New Student Registration and are not subject to the restrictions applicable to other admission categories.
Regular admission students must have a minimum composite ACT score of 19 or SAT composite score of 1010, and must have a minimum of a 3.2 unweighted high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Regular Admission may also be offered to applicants who hold the High School Equivalency Diploma, having completed the General Education Development (GED) examination with an average score of 45 or higher and no component score below 35. All Regular Admission applicants who meet the above criteria are accepted by Undergraduate Admissions team members.
Students admitted under Regular Admission must complete any developmental coursework specified by the Undergraduate Catalog placement criteria, and the student is subject to the guidelines regarding standards of academic progress that are applicable to all LMU students. Students admitted under Regular Admission will be given instructions on how to register for specific new student registration event dates for course registration.
Students who meet the following criteria are reviewed by the Office of Enrollment Management:
GPA of 2.7-3.19, AND/OR ACT composite of 17 or above, or SAT composite of 930 or above. The Office of Enrollment Management could accept the student, request more information (retest or updated transcripts), admit the student as a Cornerstone student (see Conditional Admission), or send the student to the Undergraduate Admissions Committee pending further review.
Further, if English is not his/her native language, the international student must submit her/his official score report from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); for admission to the University, a score or 500 or higher is required on the paper-based TOEFL test; 61 or higher on the Internetbased TOEFL (IBT) test; or 173 or higher on the computerbased TOEFL (CBT) test.
A score of 5.5 or higher is required on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test.
Although admitted to the University, the international student must also enroll in ELI 101 unless the paper-based TOEFL score is 527 or higher; the TOEFL iBT score is 71 or higher; the TOEFL CBT score is 197 or higher; or the IELTS score is 6 or higher.
The major program in Art provides students with a foundation in design, drawing, ceramics, and painting, along with elective choices in other media. Students in the program also study art history to understand the visual arts historically and in relation to our contemporary world. In advanced art courses, art students are encouraged to further build and hone their skills as communicators and critical thinkers in a globalized and visual world. Graduating seniors are responsible for producing and documenting an original coherent exhibition of their artwork as a demonstration of their professional development and an expression of their unique creative and artistic voice and vision.
After graduation, Art alumni are poised for careers in art, design, illustration, teaching, animation, and any other industry that requires creative thinkers and makers.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, studios, galleries, and individual clients are always on the lookout for artists who display outstanding talent, creativity, and style. Talented individuals who have developed a mastery of artistic techniques and marketing skills are likely to have the best job prospects and overall employment of craft and fine artists is projected to show little or no change from 2018 to 2028.
