Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • A completed application

  • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher or counselor who knows you well and can attest to your academic potential and personal characteristics.

  • One essay/personal statement, approximately 250-650 words in length, which will assist the Admission Committee in reviewing your application. 

  • Official test scores and other educational materials must be sent directly from the testing authority or institution.

  • Official transcripts, diplomas, and leaving examination scores from secondary and post-secondary schools (in English).

English requirements

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 80

  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.5

  • A Pearson PTE academic score of 54

Course Information

Communication Studies brings together dynamic fields of public communication and mass media in the city where these elements live. By enrolling in this program, you will explore professional communications and media industries that exist at the cross section of leadership, creativity, and social change, while learning to hone advanced skillsets in self-expression. From the interpersonal to the digital, social media to public advocacy, journalism to organizational communication, the Communication Studies degree readies this next generation to be tomorrow’s changemakers.

  • Think critically about communication and media technologies in their social, cultural, and global forms in New York City’s media hub where you will find internships and hands-on learning opportunities.

  • Understand the contexts in which communication and media are produced, delivered, and distributed.

Prepare for the careers of tomorrow today, by learning to maximize critical and creative thinking and effective, socially responsible communication. The diversity of our curriculum allows students to explore subjects including popular culture, advertising and consumer culture, political communication, intercultural communication, and social media.
