Course Information

As an economics major, you’ll learn how human beings engage and employ the material wealth of the world. Our powerful, values-based curriculum will enable you to understand how the world actually works—and help you to make it a better place.

Get ready for your choice of fascinating careers

The economics major is outstanding preparation for rewarding careers in a wide variety of professional settings, including banks, corporations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and start-up companies. You’ll learn to make rational, evidence-based decisions, to act thoughtfully as a consumer and citizen, and to participate effectively in the global economy. In small classes, you’ll work side-by-side with an outstanding faculty that includes Fulbright scholars, successful authors and top-level corporate leaders. Brennan offers two majors in economics: the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. The latter is for student interested in interdisciplinary study or a second major.

More ways to learn, on campus and beyond

Extensive practical experience is built into our economics curriculum. Brennan’s practicums and internships draw on Chicago’s vast corporate resources. We make our connections your connections, so you can test drive your dream job in the real world. You’ll dive deep into the ethical and legal implications of business practices. To gain a global economic perspective, you can choose from among study abroad programs on four continents. You may even qualify for our first-rate Accelerated MBA Program—a pathway to a completed MBA in just one additional year of study.
