English Requirements

For most courses at Charles Sturt University, you can meet the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements by doing one of the following:

  • providing evidence of having completed a sufficient standard of study in English

  • obtaining Academic IELTS within the last 2 years, with a minimum overall score of 6 and no individual score below 5.5

  • obtaining a qualification deemed to be equivalent to Academic IELTS (and its minimum scores) by Charles Sturt.

Other Requirements

A completed High School Certificate with an ATAR of 65 (including adjustment factors) or equivalent.
OR
Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR
A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
OR
50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
OR
A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
AND

Course Information

The objectives of this course are to gain:

• the appropriate knowledge base and learning skills to facilitate passage into graduate-entry dentistry, medicine or other health sciences

• an understanding of what might be the cause and treatment of disease, as well as the social and community factors that contribute to health status and the way health professionals can interact to improve patient care

• a platform of understanding for employment in a variety of public health, research and health technology occupations.

You will complete foundation subjects in medical science, humanities, Indigenous awareness, ethical practice and rural-oriented clinical research and practice. There are varied career opportunities if you do not pursue graduate programs, including:

• medical/dental or scientific research

• employment in the public health system (epidemiology, health system planning, health screening, health promotion, etc.).
