Today, to implement technology, practising professionals need to not only have knowledge and skills in information and communications technology, but they also need to understand the context in which computer technology can best be selected, applied and implemented. Within the Bachelor of Information Systems (B Info Sys) at Western Sydney University, you will learn how to plan, develop and integrate applications and information systems into a global business environment. You will also carry out a project with the professional experience unit here you will need to demonstrate that you can design and develop an information system solution that can solve a real community/business based problem. To graduate from this course, you will be required to complete 24 units, 16 of which are the core units outlined on the following page. The remaining 8 units are electives, which you can use to complete a major or sub major.
Today, practising professionals need to not only have knowledge and skills in computing, they also need to understand the context in which computer technology is applied in society, and be able to work collaboratively with people in all sorts of professions and industries. The Bachelor Information Systems degree integrates closely the applications of computing and information systems in a global business environment. You will work with organisations to design, develop, deploy and manage information systems through the application of computing technology. This course will help you carry out a real-life project where you will need to demonstrate you can design and develop an information system that solves a community-based problem.
