Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • The Spring international application deadline is Dec. 12
  • The Fall international application deadline is Aug. 2
    • Had an average GPA of 3.59 and an average combined Evidence Based Reading and Math SAT score of 1239 (ACT equivalent 26)

English requirements

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper version of the test, 213 on the computer-based version or a 79-80 on the internet-based version. IELTS minimum score: 6.5.
  • Freshman applicants may waive the TOEFL, IELTS exam if their secondary institution provides written verification that the means of instruction is in English, they are enrolled in an IB curriculum, attend an American School or enrolled in a curriculum that leads to Cambridge International Examinations: IGCSE/O-Level and GCE/A level exam.

Course Information

  • A working knowledge of structural, environmental, geotechnical and transportation engineering.
  • The first year of undergraduate study is devoted to developing writing skills and subjects in mathematics and science that serve as a foundation for upper level professional studies. 
  • During the second year of study, students learn the principles of engineering mechanics, strength of materials and surveying.
  • Junior and senior year course work gives students a working knowledge of structural, environmental, geotechnical and transportation engineering. In addition to education in these four basic areas of civil engineering practice, advanced elective courses are available in each area during the senior year. Engineering design, concepts and computer aided engineering are integrated throughout the program.
  • There are two majors in this department: Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
