Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • The Spring international application deadline is Dec. 12
  • The Fall international application deadline is Aug. 2
    • A high school diploma.
    • Overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.
    • Completion of high school program that focuses on college prep courses including English, biology, and chemistry.  It is strongly recommended that incoming freshman take math through pre-calculus or calculus and complete high school physics.
    • Minimum combined SAT scores of 1,080 (mathematics and verbal).
    • Students must be able to meet the technical standards of the college and the program so that they can actively participate in all phases of class, practicum and laboratory work, with or without reasonable accommodations.

English requirements

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper version of the test, 213 on the computer-based version or a 79-80 on the internet-based version. IELTS minimum score: 6.5.
  • Freshman applicants may waive the TOEFL, IELTS exam if their secondary institution provides written verification that the means of instruction is in English, they are enrolled in an IB curriculum, attend an American School or enrolled in a curriculum that leads to Cambridge International Examinations: IGCSE/O-Level and GCE/A level exam.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Marketing and Management option prepares you for a career as a pharmaceutical executive in management, sales or marketing. You’ll gain a valuable foundation in health sciences and business, which will prepare you for a variety of job opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. Students interested in UMass Lowell’s MBA program in the Manning School of Business will take a business minor for a direct pathway.

A unique blend of business and scientific courses, the program prepares you to:

  • Be a leader in pharmaceutical project management.
  • Market and promote novel therapeutics.
  • Develop entrepreneurial skills in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields.

You’ll be prepared for careers such as: Pharmaceutical Project Manager, Pharmaceutical Sales Manager, Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur, or Pharmaceutical Consultant.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Marketing and Management Option is designed for students interested in careers in health that integrate the science and business aspects of the development and marketing of new pharmaceuticals. With 15 free electives/credits, the program allows for flexibility so that you could earn a minor in Business and continue into UMass Lowell’s MBA program in the Manning School of Business. You’ll learn about the pharmaceutical industry, the field of digital health, public health, nutrition and more, giving you a strong foundation to pursue multiple job opportunities.
