Entry Requirement

In order to be recognized by Technical Safety BC (formerly known as BC Safety Authority) for application for a Class A, B or C Field Safety Representative examination the student must be a valid holder of an Interprovincial Standards Examination Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Electrician (Red Seal).

Course Information

This certificate enables you to act as a Field Safety Representative and install circuits that have a power supply limited in accordance with requirements to Class 2 circuits, maximum 100 volt amperes; with exception of a dedicated branch circuit from an existing panel board or extension of an existing branch circuit wiring, rated at 15 ampere, 120 volt, to an outlet installed specifically for a Class 2 power supply. This recognized course prepares students to write the Class Low Energy Systems (LO) certification exam from Technical Safety BC (formerly known as the BC Safety Authority).

This course consists of:

  • Five (5) lessons
  • Five assignments (one assignment for each lesson)

Students are required to obtain a current copy of CEC Part 1, 2018 24th edition, before commencing the course. Copies are available at most electrical wholesalers. Copies can also be ordered through most book stores or online at
