Year zero (foundation year)

You will study:

  • Context of Design and development
  • Foundation Engineering
  • Foundation Year project.

You normally need to pass your foundation year before going into year one.

Year one

You will study:

  • Introduction to Valuations
  • An Introduction to Building Construction
  • Healthy Sustainable Communities.

Year two

You will study:

  • Professional Practice for the Built Environment
  • Real Estate Economics
  • Rating and Taxation
  • Investment Valuation and Appraisal
  • Examination and Evaluation of Existing Buildings
  • Landlord and Tenant
  • Development Appraisal and Planning.

Placement year (if applicable)

If you study on the five year (sandwich) course, you'll spend a year away from the University on a work placement after year two.

Career Opportunity

After graduating, you can go into a range of careers across the public, private, residential and commercial sectors.

Job opportunities are varied and include roles in property management, valuation, development, taxation, purchase, sales and disposal.    

Recent graduates have gone on to work for private practices, or in firms such as Savills, Jones Lang LaSalle, BNP Paribas, Lambert Smith Hampton and GVA Grimley. Others are working for local authorities and the Valuation Office in the public sector.
