Course Information

Cardiovascular technology is one of three distinct program options offered by BCIT’s Advanced Certificate in Cardiac Sciences program. Cardiovascular technology is a rapidly changing field that offers a dynamic work environment in an innovative branch of cardiac care. There is a global need for cardiovascular technologists. We train allied health professionals to perform invasive exploratory heart procedures in the operating room. It’s a demanding job, and our graduates are ready.

  • Part-time, advanced certificate program that takes an average of two years to complete

  • Distance and online learning gives you flexibility to learn at your pace

  • Three clinical experiences in a BCIT-approved catheterization lab

Our individual courses can be used for professional development to enrich your current role. You can also complete the advanced certificate and transition to a career in cardiovascular technology.

Cardiovascular technologists work in hospital operating rooms with wages starting at approximately $34 per hour. Critical care nurses who complete this advanced certificate earn on average $8-10 more per hour.
