Community Colleges of Spokane

Scholarships are available through the Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation. There are over 300 major scholarships for tuition and books, as well as hundreds of smaller awards to help with testing costs, program fees and emergency needs. The foundation gives out more than $500,000 to students at SFCC and SCC every year. Students can complete one application to be eligible for most scholarships.

Other scholarship opportunities require all students to apply directly.

"American Success and Honors" program at CCS

The American Success program helps students access additional personal counseling services, develops leadership, preparatory training as well as an integrated training system with leading US universities and colleges. .

CCS Honors is an honorary selection program that challenges students to think open, creative and independent to enhance their own abilities. Students who are eligible to participate in this program often have to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, good writing skills and the ability to string knowledge.

CCS Destination Eastern

This joint enrollment program is for qualified students to complete the first two years of a four-year program at the SCC or SFCC before transferring to Eastern Washington University (EWU) to complete a bachelor's degree.

Partners of University Graduation Programs for International Students

CCS owns an open enrollment program for international students. The program announces for students to know the conditions for admission to a number of partner universities after completing the CCS pathway program with a clear, simple process and ensuring transfer options for students.

Vocational and technical training programs:

CCS organizes the Joint Applied Science (AAS) program for more than 100 technical and career fields. These programs provide students with the skills needed to enter the career path. Many technical programs do not transfer to a four-year university, so talk to a counselor when considering this training option.

International students attending CCS are eligible for on-campus employment as well as off-campus Practical Trainings: Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT). International Student Advisors work closely with students on securing these employment opportunities, applying for CPT and OPT, and answering any questions related to employment as an F-1 international student. Additionally, the Global Education office offers quarterly CPT/OPT Info Sessions as well as drop-in meetings to help students obtain permissions to work.

International students can apply for OPT once per education level. This means students can apply for OPT each time for their Associate, Bachelor’s degree and then higher degree levels. By attending community college, students get one additional year of practicum to enhance their academic and employment competitiveness.

If you are over the age of 18, you can choose to stay with an American family in a Homestay or you can work with our partners to arrange to live in off-campus housing. If you are under 18, you must live with an American family in a Homestay.
