• Navitas Family Bursaries

The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for up to 8 units of study within one program only with a Navitas member institution. The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken. It excludes mixed English 

• Navitas Academic Merit Scholarships

The scholarships are for one academic trimester or part thereof (equivalent to the maximum of up to five academic subjects)* for a Navitas Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree (Australia), UTP Stage II or Associate Degree (Canada), UPP or IUTP (USA) or Undergraduate pathway program (UK) at a Navitas college or one academic semester of foundation or undergraduate study at La Trobe University Sydney Campus, Curtin Singapore or Macquarie City Campus or one academic semester of a Master's program at Curtin Singapore or Macquarie City Campus.

-Deakin College Australian Student Academic Merit Scholarships

Deakin College is committed to helping students achieve their goals by offering Scholarships to outstanding diploma students. Deakin College rewards students for academic excellence achieved in their first trimester by giving them the opportunity to secure a scholarship for the final part of their Deakin College studies.

-Deakin College Vietnam Excellence Scholarships

The Deakin College Vietnam Excellence Scholarship is awarded to selected high-achieving students who are offered a place at Deakin College in 2019.

The scholarships are valued at 25% of the total tuition fees for the duration of the course.

-Deakin College India Excellence Scholarships

The Deakin College Vietnam Excellence Scholarship is awarded to selected high-achieving students who are offered a place at Deakin College in 2019.

-Deakin College Bangladesh Excellence Scholarships

The Deakin College Bangladesh Excellence Scholarship is awarded to selected high-achieving students who are offered a place at Deakin College in 2019.

-Deakin College Nepal Excellence Scholarships

The Deakin College Nepal Excellence Scholarship is awarded to selected high-achieving students who are offered a place at Deakin College in 2019.

-Deakin College Construction Management Scholarships

The Deakin College Construction Management Scholarship is awarded to students who are offered a place in the Diploma of Construction Management in 2019. The scholarships are valued at 25% of the total tuition fees for the duration of the course.

Deakin College hosts a series of activities and programs to promote an easy transition to tertiary study.

• You will receive information about your Deakin College course, orientation kit and student diary
• You will meet the Deakin College staff, student mentors and new friends
• You will be introduced to a range of services and facilities available to you as a student

There will also be information sessions on accommodation, employment, safety, health, coverage and computer skills. These sessions are all designed to help you settle into your new environment.

Above all, attending Orientation makes sure that you are enrolled. You will create your timetable, buy textbooks and obtain your Deakin College Student ID Card.

International students will be allowed to work part-time after enrollment up to 20 hours per week. Employees will have a case file and tax code issued by the Australian Revenue Service.

Average overtime students can earn 6 - 15 AUD / hour, wages are higher if they work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Thus, you can earn about 800 - 1,500 AUD / month. If you are studying for a masters or doctorate, tutoring for younger students in the same industry will earn about 40 AUD / hour.

Accommodation varies at each campus but all are within walking distance of campus facilities.

• Homestay: Homestay provides you with the opportunity to live with an Australian family. This accommodation option is very popular with students arriving in Melbourne for the first time. Homestay is a good choice if you want to improve your English and want to experience Australian life and culture. Homestay may be families, couples or single people. All are selected to provide good quality facilities and meals if required.

• Rental / Sharing: Students may choose to rent an apartment or a house - either on their own or with friends. The majority of rental properties are not furnished. Rental costs usually do not include the payment of expenses (bills) such as gas and electricity.

If you rent a property you will be required to sign a contract (lease) which will make you responsible for that property and any damages that may occur. If you are sharing with friends then each of you should sign the contract and share equally in all expenses. Prior to moving into a rental property you will be asked to pay a bond, plus one months rent in advance. The bond is usually equivalent to one month of rent payment. When you leave the rental property the bond will be returned to you provided the property is in the same condition as it was when you moved in and there aren't any outstanding bills (eg. telephone, electricity, etc.).

Before agreeing to rent, it is important that you fully understand what is expected of you as a tenant. You also need to be aware of the rights and responsibilities you have, as well as those of your landlord. The Rights and Responsibilities booklet at your real estate agent office will tell you what you need to know. Ensure that you read it carefully.

• Deakin University  Housing Service: As a Deakin College student, you can access the Deakin University Student Life Housing Service. This service provides a number of accommodation options for students, including full board, share housing and vacant properties for private rental. You can have access to their service housing database of local properties. The database provides information regarding available properties and current prices. Hostel: A range of hostels and apartment style accommodation are available for students to choose from. Most hostels/apartments offer single or shared fully furnished rooms.

• Accommodation for International Students Under 18 years of age: An international student who is under 18 years of age is a "minor". Minors must meet immigration requirements for accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements before a student visa will be granted.
