Students will need to submit official copies of external exam scores, as well as official copies of internal grades. We generally advise applicants to submit secondary school (high school) official transcripts for grades 9 through 12, in order to ensure prompt processing.

For admission, all international students must take one of the approved English proficiency exams, complete level 112 at ELS Language Center or take the ACT or SAT.

VERIFICATION OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT (TO BE SUBMITTED AFTER ADMISSION)
Undergraduate students must have sufficient finances to cover tuition, fees, and housing costs for one year at Grand Valley. Undergraduate students must have a minimum of $29,750 USD in financial support. If a student will not be paying for their education on their own, sponsors must be identified on the statement of financial support which can be found on page 6 of the international student application.
Students or the sponsor(s) of a student must send the following documents to global@gvsu.edu for an I-20 to be created:

Bank statement shows a minimum balance of $29,750 USD. Bank statement balances can be listed in the student/sponsors local currency. As long as the balance, when converted into USD, meets the minimum amount required then your documents will be accepted. If you are unsure how your local currency will convert into USD, you may use the XE Currency Converter.
Must show at least 3 months of transaction history on the account

Students who will be supported by an institution, foundation, or government agency, your financial sponsor must submit a letter of support on official letterhead. The letter must include:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a 21-month long cohort program, which begin in the fall each year. Admittance is selectively granted to students who have completed 2 years of required general education and prerequisite courses. Student applications for placement in the fall cohort are due by February 1 every year. Applications are available online.
WHY STUDY DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY AT GRAND VALLEY?
GVSU's sonography programs are the only Baccalaureate level programs in the State of Michigan. Strong curriculum and knowledgeable, clinically practicing faculty prepare students for leadership in the field.
Laboratory facilities utilize state-of-the-art sonographic equipment to prepare students for current and emerging techniques and protocols.
A commitment to quality is demonstrated through continuous accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in association with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Students enjoy small class sizes, a cohort educational experience, and clinical education at multiple physician offices and hospitals. Rotation of clinical site placements means students get diverse experiences, network across multiple health systems, and develop broad skill sets.
Students are qualified to take national board registries through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography before graduation, allowing them to become board-registered sonographers immediately upon graduation. GVSU's sonography programs are the only programs in the State of Michigan with this distinction.

The United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Statistics projects that the ultrasound field will grow 24 percent in the next decade, much faster than average growth. Sonographers are currently in demand for clinics, physician offices, traveling ultrasound services, research institutions, and hospitals.
