Admission Requirements

Entry requirement

  • A completed Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) at the University of Adelaide.

English requirement

  • IELTS: Overall band score of 7 and band score of 7 in all bands
  • TOEF Internet-based: total score of 94 with a minimum of 27 in Writing, 23 in Speaking and 24 in Reading and Listening 
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 65 and skills profile of no less than 65 in all skills
  • C1 Advanced: Overall score of 185 and individual score of 185 in all skills 

Course Information

Our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine provides the necessary training and qualifications for registration as a veterinarian.

Most students enter this program after completion of the Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) at the University of Adelaide. If you have an equivalent degree, you may also be eligible for entry. However, there are currently no equivalent Bachelor degrees within Australia. Generally, equivalence is found with a completed veterinary program from an overseas institution. 

What will you do?

  • learn about the causes, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of domesticated animals including dogs, cats, horses, ruminants, camelids, pigs and poultry
  • explore wildlife ecology, conservation medicine and ecohealth
  • hone your scientific and technical skills for research and clinical practice
  • gain advanced professional experience through a structured internship program
  • complete a further 23 weeks of extramural practical work.
