Admission Requirements

English entry requirement

You will study at the level which matches your current English language ability. Throughout levels AE1-5 you will study key themes that incorporate various interesting topics.

After completing the appropriate English level you can gain direct entry* into UTS Foundation Studies, UTS Insearch diplomas or UTS degree programs without the need to sit another English exam. Please refer to the diagram below for more details about our pathways.

GE3 IELTS score of Overall 3.5. No skill lower than 3.0.

For entry to GE1 or GE2 students will complete a test on arrival at insearch.

Course Information

You will develop the English language and academic literacy skills required for successful entry to an English speaking university.

The Academic English Program will help you develop your ability to participate confidently within the university community.

General English (GE1-3) prepares you for the Academic English Program from AE1 through to AE3 for Foundation Studies AE4 for Diploma Studies or AE5 for Bachelor or Masters program, with a focus on the development of Speaking Reading, Listening and Writing.

Students may enter the course from beginner to lower intermediate levels. IELTS and TOEFL test scores act as a guide to place you at the correct level to start your course.
