Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opportunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students who graduated from high school three or more years ago.

English Requirements

All undergraduate applicants must obtain one of the following:

  • TOEFL iBT: 71; Home Edition iBT: 71

  • Revised PBT: 18 (average score)

  • IELTS Academic and IELTS indicator: 6.0

  • Duolingo English Test (DET):100

  • PTE Academic and PTE Academic Online: 48

  • Completion of the Kent State University ESL Center Level 8 Intensive English program with a minimum of 3.75 out of 4.0 GPA

  • ELS Level 112 Intensive English Program completion

  • SAT: a minimum of 510 evidence-based reading and writing

  • ACT: a minimum of 21 in English

Course Information

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Human Services is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in a variety of human services agencies, and includes applied courses in human services and joint university-agency supervised internships. The core courses provide a solid foundation in case management and client advocacy. This program is endorsed by the Ohio Coalition of Associate Degree Human Service Educators as authorized by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as meeting the curricular requirements for the Social Work Assistant, Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant I & II and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.  

The program is designed to articulate fully to Kent State’s B.S. degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Human Services concentration. However, it is also applicable to the bachelor programs in psychology and sociology.
