Learn how to develop and manage outstanding customer experiences from industry-experienced staff. Gain essential skills and experience on an international or UK-based work placement. Make the most of opportunities to visit tourist destinations such as Barcelona and Amsterdam on field trips.
Gaining professional experience is a core part of the course. In addition to placement opportunities with a range of national and local businesses, you can follow in the footsteps of students who’ve had adventures overseas, making the most of our links in the USA including Sea Pines Resorts, Marriott Hotels, Q Hotels and Smoke Tree Ranch.
To help you build your understanding of the industry, you’ll work on live business briefs and hear from hospitality and tourism practitioners in lectures with recent guests including directors from Travel Bag and Travel Foundation. You’ll have opportunities to undertake field trips to tourist hot-spots such as Cardiff, Gloucester Cathedral, Cheltenham Racecourse and other sites within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There will also be opportunities to visit international locations such as Barcelona and Amsterdam.
You’ll learn how to set up and promote your own hotel or tourism business through specialist enterprise, marketing and operations management modules. Our on-campus business hub, The Growth Hub, will connect you to leading local business expertise with opportunities for work shadowing and working on live business briefs.
