Course Information

This five-week course is ideal if you need to improve your English language by the equivalent of IELTS 0.5 before starting your chosen degree. It is designed for international and EU students who already hold a conditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate course.

This course is more than a language course. It offers extensive practice in academic reading, writing, and listening, and it will also develop your presentation and seminar skills. With its focus on preparing you for successful university study in the UK, you will better understand UK university culture, customs and expectations upon completion.

Due to the current global Covid-19 pandemic, from Monday 3 August learning will take place online only with a maximum of 20 people in a class. You will have 20 hours of activities per week. Classes will be at any time between 8:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. Please note, there will be no classes on national holidays (Monday 31 August 2020). You will also have online one-to-one tutorials with your academic advisor and you will have access to lots of self-study resources stored in our online library. Your assessments will include a mix of coursework, which tests your reading, writing, speaking and listening; there will be no end-of-course examination.

Please note that our English language courses are adult courses. The minimum age of entry is 17. The university does not act 'in loco parentis' and cannot provide 24-hour supervision of 17 year-olds. A signed parental consent form for students under the age of 18 is required prior to enrolment.
