About

General description

Selkirk College is B.C.’s oldest rural community college and came to life after the regional taxpayers voted in a 1965 referendum to provide a close-to-home post-secondary opportunity. Since 1966, it has been providing innovative and unique learning opportunities. The college has grown to become a major economic, social and cultural contributor. Today’s Selkirk welcomes students from across Canada and from around the world. It is large enough to provide quality student services and facilities, yet small enough to offer individual support, small class sizes and an extra dose of attention not found in most post-secondary institutions.

The College offers nationally recognized programs in certificate, diploma, bachelor degree, co-operative education and continuing education programs. It offers outcomes for in demand employment, credit transfer to a multitude of universities for degree completion and enhanced training to further career opportunities. Programs at Selkirk are organized and categorized by the schools and academic areas according to relevant subjects. The instructors are more than teachers, are experts in their fields who have relevant real world experience to share with students.

Offering diverse programming, the campus caters to a variety of students as well as local community needs.

Our Trail campus is located in the heart of downtown Trail on Cedar Avenue, just off Highway 3B. Trail is also the home of our Distance Education administrative headquarters.
