The University of Newcastle offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your individual lifestyle and budget.
On-campus accommodation
On-campus accommodation at the University of Newcastle is available to NIC students. Living on campus provides students with a dedicated support network and the chance to live in a community where you can make lifelong friends from all around the world.
Off-campus accommodation
NIC’s preferred partner for off campus accommodation is Reece Realty Newcastle.
Reece Realty have a variety of student accommodation to suit all needs.
Student Share Houses – these homes generally range from 4 – 8 bedroom homes with shared kitchen, bathroom, laundry and living areas. Prices can range from $100 - $200 per week.
Purpose Built Houses – these homes can range from 5 bedrooms up to 12 bedrooms these are built specifically for student living, most rooms include ensuites and air conditioning. Prices range from $150 - $220 pw.
Studio Apartments and Granny Flats – these units are all self-contained with ensuites and kitchen facilities. Perfect for students that like their own space. Prices range from $200 - $250 pw.
All student accommodation includes utilities (electricity, gas and water) and Internet is provided as a complimentary service.
Houses are fully furnished, including beds, wardrobes and desks in each room. All kitchens are fully stocked with crockery, pots, pans and utensils. Already for our students to move straight in.

Reece Realty’s office is located in the heart of Jesmond shopping precinct with high exposure from Blue Gum Road (opposite Jesmond Fruit Barn) and Hirst Street (opposite Woolworths main entry) with plenty of free parking available. Only 1.5kms from the University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus.

Homestay
As a member of a Homestay family you will experience Australian culture in the home. It is expected that as a Homestay student you will remain in Homestay for a minimum of four weeks. In that time, your Homestay family will welcome you into their home and help you adjust to life in Australia. Our Homestay families look forward to learning about your country and culture as they introduce you to Newcastle.
There is an administration fee charged for each Homestay placement. Students will receive an invoice during the first trimester of study. Students should pay the placement fee within a week of arriving in Newcastle. You can make the payment at the Cashier's Office, located at the University of Newcastle's Student Services Building on campus.
Homestay Accommodation Fee (2017)
$225 Administration Fee
$250.00 per week for all meals (3 per day)
$235.00 per week for 16 meals (no lunches Monday-Friday)
$10.00 extra per week for Internet access
Students will be required to pay 2 weeks' Homestay fee on arrival directly to the Homestay host. This is non-refundable and students should be prepared to stay at least 4 weeks in Homestay. After this time students may negotiate to stay longer or arrange alternative accommodation.
