About

General decription

University Hill’s first graduates were the class of 1927 and at that time the secondary school was located on the site of the present elementary school on Chancellor Boulevard. In 1954, the Acadia Road building welcomed its first students, with additional facilities opening in 1957. In those days, the graduating classes numbered about 25. The Vancouver School Board assumed responsibility for the school in 1969 and over time, with the addition of 8 portable classrooms, the graduating classes steadily increased to 120 students or more.

In January 2013, the school re-located to 3228 Ross Drive, in the Wesbrook Village neighbourhood at UBC; a vibrant new location with an exciting new school facility. University Hill Secondary is an exceptional school in a number of respects. The first Vancouver Secondary School constructed in the 21st Century, with a capacity of 1000 students, it is one of the smallest schools in the VSB.  We have a strong sense of community with parents, students, and staff working together to create and maintain high quality educational programs in a safe and supportive learning and social environment.

University Hill takes pride in its traditions of excellence and service. Our school culture is characterized by a strong commitment to academics and a record of active participation in the fine and performing arts, and athletics. University Hill Secondary ranks among the top academic schools in the province and consistently performs extremely well in relation to other British Columbia schools.

University Hill Secondary's colours are purple and teal, and we have two logos. One is historical, with UHS on a traditional shield; the other is contemporary, a stylized hawk symbolizing our affinity with nature and commitment to action.
