Course Information

As a dual degree program with Mercy College of Ohio, students who want to have a residential and athletic experience during college can earn a degree that will allow them to sit for a registered nursing license.

Employment of RNs is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2024. In fact, registered nurses are projected to generate approximately 711,900 new jobs, among the largest number of new jobs for any occupation. The national annual wage for registered nurses ranges from $47,150 – $102,990, with the median wage being $68,450, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

By partnering with Mercy College, students will have access to top clinical sites and practicing medical professionals, leading to great job opportunities as they will most likely be able to obtain positions within Mercy Health. Dual credentials allow students to demonstrate to future employers that they have the foundational knowledge of allied health sciences to support their practice as a nurse.

The B.S. Applied Health Sciences and B.S.N. Pre-licensure program requires students to take classes at Tiffin University’s campus and Mercy College’s campus in Toledo.

  • The first three semesters’ classes will be on Tiffin University’s campus.

  • During the third semester, students will apply to Mercy College for the B.S.N. Pre-licensure program.

  • The fourth semester will feature clinicals at Mercy College and DEC classes will be taken online.

  • The fifth semester will consist of clinicals at hospitals, nursing homes, surgical sites, etc.

  • During the eighth semester, students will be spending much of the time in clinicals and preparing for the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for RNs).
