Entry Requirement

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and

  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12).

It is also recommended that you have studied Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent.

 

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

 

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Course Information

  • The Associate Degree of Construction will give you the freedom of choice to start up your career or set a stepping stone for further study.
  • Gain specialised skills in built environment, quantity surveying and building services design as well as the qualifications for higher salaries and job prospects in the building and construction industries. 
  • Get hands-on with practical course material and work with professional equipment alongside learning about the management of construction of some of the world’s biggest projects.
  • Develop the knowledge to work in the industries of commercial, industrial, civil, and residential construction and apply your skills in problem-solving, analysis, and engineering design. 
  • Already got a Diploma through TAFE? Maybe an apprenticeship through your work experience? Then fast track your degree with the credit you’ve already earned.

 

Further study

Looking for a Bachelor qualification? Upon completion of the Associate Degree of Construction, you will be able to articulate into the Bachelor of Construction (Honours) and receive credit for courses you completed in the Associate degree.

Professional accreditation

Graduates of the Associate Degree of Construction meet the Queensland Building and Construction Commission’s technical qualification requirements to hold a Builder Open class of licence and a Builder Project Management Services licence subject to demonstrating the required level of industry experience.
