Admission Deadlines are August 1st for Fall Semester, and January 2nd for Spring Semester.
In addition to fulfilling the admission requirements of the Graduate School, you’ll need to meet the following criteria for admission to our program:
an English minor or equivalent (18 credit hours of literature and/or language classes)
a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5
GRE General Test scores of 150 or higher on the verbal section and 4.0 or higher on the analytical writing section. Applicants with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher, or 3.25 or higher in their last 60 hours of undergraduate work are exempt from the GRE requirement
Demonstrated English language proficiency. Before being accepted for admission to the university international students must demonstrate their English language proficiency. For standard admission students may demonstrate proficiency by one of the following means:
TOEFL score of 530 (paper based), 195 (computer based), or 71 (internet based) with no band score below a 16.
IELTS scores of 6.0 overall with 5.0 or above in EVERY subject/skill category.
Duolingo English Test with a score of 95 or higher.
Japanese students may submit the EIKEN test with a passing score of Pre-1.
ACT English 18 and ACT Reading 20
SAT Evidence Based Reading/Writing 510
Successful completion of the ELS Level 112 Intensive English program in the United States. (See below for details.)
A degree in general studies builds critical thinking, communication and quantitative skills and is ideal for individuals who have some college credits, but have not yet earned a degree
