Other Requirements

Optional SAT/ACT Testing

A holistic review of each applicant is at the center of our approach to enrolling a diverse group of students that strengthens the UVM community. UVM does not require international students to send SAT or ACT scores as part of the application process. We also recognize the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly limited access to testing sites and resources. Therefore, all applicants including US citizens abroad are not required to submit standardized test scores for Fall 2021 through Fall 2023, but are welcome to do so if they feel it will contribute to their academic record. Both the Common Application and the Coalition Application allow you to indicate if you want your standardized test scores considered.

Students who choose not to submit test scores will not be disadvantaged in any way, as all applicants will be considered for admission, merit scholarships, and selection to the UVM Honors College.

  • UVM’s College Board/SAT Code: 3920

  • UVM ACT Code: 4322

Send your official scores to the University of Vermont (official only if submitted directly from the testing agency*). You may send results for all tests you take; our admissions evaluation will consider your highest scores.

*Students applying through the Coalition Application can upload scores directly through their application.

Optional Interview

International applicants are welcome to participate in an optional interview. The interview will be used as part of the holistic review process, and it will be one among many factors that will be considered when reviewing your application. Options to participate:

  • Online Platform: Vericant or InitialView

  • Personal interview with an International Admissions Team member

Course Information

As climate change, a growing global population and agricultural sprawl threaten the world’s ecosystems, food production and landscape design for the 21st century will need to pivot to more sustainable practices.

Agroecology integrates environmental science, ecology and communities to grow food in a way that sustains people and the planet. It is a science of collaboration that involves working with people wherever agriculture, conservation, and policymaking converge. Grounded in agricultural and horticultural sciences, our curriculum teaches students how to help transform current agri-food and land management systems with the use of ecologically sound and socially just methods.

B.S Degree Offered Through The Department Of Plant And Soil Science

Our flexible major offers two concentrations as pathways to your career goals. In both concentrations, students gain an understanding of ecological systems through hands-on coursework, research, internships and engaging with local and global communities.

Agroecology Concentration

Choose Agroecology if your goals are to understand the connections between food production and the environment, work within the farming community, address food insecurity, improve production methods or provide education to communities.

Landscape Design Concentration

Choose Landscape Design if your goals are to understand multifunctional landscapes, learn conservation methods for land and water resources or provide education to communities.
