Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be age 17 and above and meet one of the following requirements:

Year 3 Entry / Level 6^:

  • Relevant polytechnic diplomas in a business-related discipline with a particular focus on Human Resource Management, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with a pass grade* 
  • Relevant overseas polytechnic diplomas, in a business-related discipline with a particular focus on Human Resource Management, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education*, OR
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in business-related discipline with a particular focus on Human Resource Management*
  • Relevant PEI qualification in a business-related discipline with a particular focus on Human Resource Management (which is deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 12 years of formal education*

English Requirements

  • Possess a minimum C6 grade in English at GCE 'O' Level
  • IELTS score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5)
  • TOEFL score of 550
  • Completed MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE)
  • Equivalent

Course Information

Programme Objectives

  • Provide a framework for understanding the HRM/Personnel function and the contribution it makes to organisational goals.
  • Provide an appreciation of disciplines underlying the study of business and knowledge of other business functional area.
  • Provide links and/or a platform for professional development with specific reference to the field of HRM/Personnel.
  • Encourage ongoing critical, evaluative and strategic ways of thinking in all areas.
  • Provide students with the skills and knowledge required to maximise career and postgraduate study opportunities.

Graduation

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management (Top-Up) from the University of Portsmouth, UK. The degree will be the same as that awarded to the full-time students at the University main campus in the UK.
