The English major cultivates students’ abilities to express ideas in clear, persuasive language through the study of literature, composition, and digital media. Never more relevant than it is today, literature puts students in touch with the world’s most perceptive and discriminating minds, offering insights into timeless human ideas, anxieties, and desires. Through their exploration of American, British, and World literatures, students develop strong critical thinking and analytical skills that are highly sought after by employers and graduate schools.

Major Electives: 12 credits
Writing Course: An English elective course in writing to be chosen from the following. (3 cr.)
Diversity Course: An English elective course in diversity to be chosen from the following. (3 cr.)
Genre Course: An English elective course in genre to be chosen from the following. (3 cr.)
Three additional credits from LIT or WRIT courses 200-level or above (3 cr.)
Collateral Requirements: 6 credits
