Admission Requirements

Entry Requirement

  • be at least 18 years old when you start study

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - successful completion with minimum score of 24 (minimum score of 4 in each of six subjects)

  • Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) - successful completion with a minimum GPA of 2.3

English Requirement 

Qualifications listed below, that are the equivalent to Australian Year 12, must be completed within the last five years.

Tests listed below must have been completed within the last two years.

  • IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each subtest

  • TOEFL: Paper-based:Overall score of 550 with minimum essay score of 4

  • TOEFL: Internet-based:Overall score of 76 with minimum score of 18 for writing

  • Pearson Test of English: Overall score of 50 with no subscore less than 50

  • Language of Instruction English (LOI): Minimum 1 year full-time tertiary study, or 1 year full-time other post-secondary study, or 2 years full-time secondary study where the language of instruction is English, successfully completed in last 5 years in one of the following countries:

            +Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States of America

           +Study completed in countries that don't appear in this list will be considered on a case by case basis.

  • CAE/CPE: Overall score of 169 or above with no less than 162 in each skill

  • ISLPR (IIAA accredited)- (previously ASLPR): 3 in all four skill areas

  • Global Assessment Certificate (GAC): Successful completion with a minimum GPA of 2.3

  • USC's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 2: Successful completion

  • USC's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 3: Successful completion

Course Information

In this program, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of how the human body works and what happens when diseases, infections and clinical disorders occur. You will develop the knowledge and skills for working in applied biomedical industries and medical research.

In your first year of study, you will develop your analytical and communication skills, providing a strong foundation for more specialised studies in biomedical science. You will study foundations in medical science, cell biology/introduction to bioscience, chemistry, human physiology and anatomy, science research methods, and communication. You will then develop in key areas  including physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, microbiology, medical genetics, immunology and pharmacology.

You can also pursue your interests and hone your career opportunities by studying elective courses in clinical and research areas such as molecular biology, biochemical pharmacology, biotechnology, medical microbiology, clinical embryology, haematology and clinical trials coordination.

This program gives you the opportunity to link with industry and develop a specific interest in biomedical science by undertaking clinical work placements and special research projects. Placements may be in areas such as hospitals, clinical trial centres, pharmaceutical companies and medical research institutes.

This program provides you with a strong base if you would like to undertake postgraduate studies in professional areas such as medicine, dentistry, medical imaging and pharmacy
