Civil engineers are responsible for the planning, design, construction and project management of buildings and roads; airports and railways; water resources management; water supply and sewerage systems; and other infrastructure systems.
This degree places great emphasis on the practical application of engineering and scientific principles to produce industryready engineers, who are immediately employable and capable of adapting to an ever-changing future. The Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) gives you the building blocks to plan, design, construct and maintain the infrastructure systems that are necessary for our day-to-day lives, such as roads, airports and railways; water supply and sewerage systems; water resources management; and buildings. This program covers the broad range of civil engineering disciplines, including engineering materials, structural engineering, water engineering, geotechnical engineering and transport engineering.
Deakin College is a direct pathway to Deakin University, and provides an excellent avenue for students who do not yet meet the admission requirements for Deakin University programs.
Deakin College and Deakin University work closely to support students and develop high-quality programs. Deakin College offers diplomas in the areas of Business; Commerce; Construction Management; Design; Engineering; Film, Television and Animation; Health Sciences; Information Technology; and Science, as well as a Foundation Studies Program (equal to Australian Year 12).
Diplomas at Deakin College are equivalent to the first year of a Deakin University undergraduate degree, and may provide entry into the second year of a relevant Deakin University bachelor degree.
