As part of your application, you are required to complete an online questionnaire to demonstrate your motivation for, and understanding of, the program and profession. In the questionnaire, you will be asked to rank a series of statements in order of what you think is most to least important. You will also need to write a 600-1000 word personal statement on why you think you would make a great teacher, and why influencing the future appeals to you. After you have submitted an application for this program, you will be contacted with further information about the written statement and how to complete your application.
Qualifications listed below, that are the equivalent to Australian Year 12, must be completed within the last five years.
Tests listed below must have been completed within the last two years.
IELTS (Academic)
Overall score of 7.5 with minimum 8.0 in speaking and listening and 7.0 in reading and writing
Language of Instruction English (LOI)
LoI English will be considered in limited circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who have successfully completed at least four years of higher education study where the language of instruction is English, completed within the last five years in any of the countries listed, may be considered: Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Republic of Ireland. LoI English will not be considered for studies undertaken in countries that don’t appear in this list.
This program prepares you to teach Years 7-12 in health and physical education, plus another teaching area of your choice. With a double degree, you'll graduate with more options - you can also choose to pursue a career outside of schools, in outdoor and environmental education centres, adventure tourism and ecotourism.
In this program you will:
complete 80 days of supervised professional experience in Queensland schools, 30 hours of wider field experience, and 25 days outdoor environmental fieldwork, including residential camping experiences on K'gari-Fraser Island.
learn in quality sport and exercise science laboratories, accredited by the National Sport Science Quality Assurance program at the Australian Institute of Sport.
choose from a range of disciplines for your second teaching areas, including English, History, Geography, Coastal and Marine Environments.
graduate eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers.
