Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

Subject prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any one of Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics, Physical Education or Physics.

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

English requirements

  • IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0.

  • TOEFL Internet based (iBT): overall score of 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing.

  • La Trobe College Australia ELICOS (LTCA): completion of EFS level 6B with minimum 60% overall and 60% in final exam.

  • La Trobe College Australia Foundation Studies (LTCA): completion of Foundation studies with 60% in English (Academic Communication).

  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.

  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Course Information

In first year, you'll study the roles of healthcare professionals and cover the fundamentals of human bioscience. In second and third years, you'll learn anatomy, biomechanics, exercise psychology and physiology. Learn how to change community behaviours, fine tune individual training to optimise performance and work with groups such as the elderly, adolescents and athletes undergoing rehabilitation.

This course offers you a pathway to La Trobe degrees such as the Master of Exercise Physiology and Master of Physiotherapy Practice.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Exercise Science on the Bendigo campus is accredited at the level of exercise science by Exercise and Sports Science, Australia (ESSA).

Graduates of the Bachelor of Exercise Science may apply for membership with ESSA. Membership may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.
