Course Information

This course provides the theoretical knowledge and professional skills necessary to practice as a qualified medical radiation scientist. You will undertake common core subjects in the first year of your study. From your second year onwards you will choose a specialisation in medical imaging, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy. (The Radiation Therapy specialisation is only offered on the Wagga Wagga campus.)

A professional development year is included in the fourth year of the course, so when you graduate, you can apply immediately for registration to practise.

Graduates may find employment in metropolitan or regional areas in the public hospital system or private practices in Australia and overseas.

Professional recognition

Graduates are eligible to register with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA). CSU is currently seeking accreditation for the Radiation Therapy specialisation with MRPBA.

Workplace learning

Over the four years of study, you will undertake 58 weeks of clinical placement, including a fourth-year residency.
