Prerequisite
A completed recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent) not in nursing completed within the past ten years with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale).
Applicants in possession of a bachelor degree awarded more than ten years ago will be eligible for entry if they have completed additional postgraduate studies at graduate certificate level (or higher) within ten years of the planned date of course commencement; or
Completed a recognised overseas nursing qualification at bachelor degree level with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale), that enables the applicant to work as a registered nurse in their home country. Applicants whose qualification/s were awarded more than ten years ago will need to provide evidence of recent work experience as a registered nurse, (that is, practice as a registered nurse no more than three years prior to the planned commencement date of the QUT Bachelor of Nursing).

The Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) provides a pathway for applicants with a bachelor degree in any area other than nursing. Students are awarded the equivalent of one year of advanced standing (credit) and complete the course in two years instead of three.

Foundation studies will build your knowledge in key areas of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, and will introduce you to professional nursing practice and contemporary healthcare service.
You will also develop an understanding of pharmacology with an emphasis on quality use of medicines. These studies are complemented with opportunities to apply nursing theory to clinical practice in our on campus facilities and in clinical placements off campus.
Graduates of this degree are prepared to excel in a profession where the scope of practice is expanding and there are greater responsibilities for delivery of more complex interventions in a range of healthcare settings and across diverse populations.

Nursing offers employment opportunities in Australia and overseas, in general and specialist areas such as emergency, paediatrics or mental health, and in other areas including community health, in-home care, school health, alcohol and drug dependence, and the armed services.
Many nurses complete further study and specialise in acute care nursing, cancer nursing, emergency nursing, intensive care nursing, mental health nursing, or paediatric, child and youth health nursing.
