Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

Have attained the age of 18 years or over

International Students: Minimum completion of Australian Year 12 secondary school education equivalent or above. This requirement will vary by country of origin and information is provided on New Era Institute website and marketing materials.

Students will also possess a sufficient grasp of the English language, adequate levels of intelligence, basic to the intermediate skill level of mathematics to carry out measurements and calculations and appropriate attitude and motivation to enable them to undertake the demands of a Certificate III level qualification.

English Requirements

Academic IELTS 5.5 overall, no less than 5.0 in each band, or upper-intermediate, or EAP from approved ELICOS/ESL centre.

Physical Requirements

This course requires manual labour including manual handling and heavy lifting. Students who participate in this qualification must be physically fit. Students with a history of back issues may not be appropriate for this qualification. Students are reviewed at enrolment, where issues may be identified, reasonable adjustment and support processes will be put in place.

Are you looking for an in-demand trade qualification with plenty of employment opportunities? The Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling provides complete training and worksite preparation for residential and commercial tiling work.

The course covers a range of general skills that are essential for working in the construction industry as well as specialist skills in wall and floor tiling. You’ll learn to work with a wide range of common tiling materials including ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay. The course will cover all aspects of wall and floor tiling including:

  • Reading and interpreting plans

  • Handling tiling materials

  • Using tools and equipment

  • Preparing the surface for tiling

  • Installing tiles

  • Decorative and mosaic tiling

  • Tiling curved surfaces

  • Waterproofing for tiling

  • Repairing tiles and surfaces

Upon completion of the course, you’ll have the skills and expertise to provide expert interior and exterior wall and floor tiling across a range of construction and renovation projects.

Course assessment is conducted using a combination of realistic workplace tasks, projects, knowledge tests, observations, logbooks, and feedback from supervisors (third-party reports). The course also includes extensive practical on-site work experience coordinated by New Era Institute.

For course applicants from regional NSW, please note that our wall and floor tiling courses are delivered from our Burwood and Windsor campuses in New South Wales include an on-site work placement component.
