If you are not a first-language speaker of English, we require evidence of your English language proficiency. Evidence, such as test results, must not be more than two years old.

Evidence of your English language proficiency can be:
Achievement of NCEA level 3 and has met New Zealand university entrance requirements; or
Completion of a Bachelor Degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Bachelor Honours Degree, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree with English as the language of instruction, from tertiary education providers from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States; or
Obtaining the Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or the Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Cert TESOL)
A satisfactory result in an approved English language test, such as:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS – Academic): 6.0 overall with no sub-score less than 5.5
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
Cambridge English Test: FCE with a pass at Grade B
Pearson Test of English (Academic) – PTE: score of 50
New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL): Level 4 with the Academic endorsement
Under 20 years
50 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of English, Maths and Science, or achieved a level 3 or 4 qualification in a related field. or relevant experience.
20+ years
If you’re 20 years or over, you may qualify for special admission on this programme. Contact us if you don’t meet the Under 20 entry criteria.
Start your career as an architectural designer or technician. Develop your technical drawing skills using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Understand architecture, building methods and materials, and building code requirements. Build a portfolio. Create architectural drawings and documentation for buildings across New Zealand.
