Entry Requirements

  • Minimum ATAR 40 equivalent (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) or interstate or overseas equivalent; OR

  • Minimum 4 HSC Subjects ≥ 65% (or equivalent); OR

  • Minimum 3 HSC Subjects ≥ 70% (or equivalent); OR

English Requirements

To gain entry into the Diploma of Business (3 Session) you need to have met the following requirements:

IELTS Academic 5.5 (min 5.0 in Reading and Writing) or equivalent completed in the last two years; or

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS COMPLETED IN ENGLISH: Applicants may be considered as meeting the English language requirement if successfully completing two (2) years of secondary or tertiary study at an approved institution where:

  • the language of instruction was English; and

  • the institution is located in a country where the official language is English.

Academic transcripts and an official letter from the institution certifying that English was the sole language of instruction and assessment must be provided. Previous study in English is considered on a case-by-case basis and does not automatically meet UOW's English language requirement.

The following citizenships may be considered for an English language waiver under the above guideline: Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, UK, USA.

Course Information

The Diploma of Business Standard Session can get you guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Wollongong (UOW).

The course is designed for international students, studying in Australia.

How do we practice responsible and ethical commerce? What can we do to understand the world of business and manage resources for the future? How does economic theory impact contemporary social issues?

In the Diploma of Business you will address these fundamental questions and gain the skills to be better prepared to succeed at your UOW bachelor. You’ll explore various disciplines, including marketing, accounting, management and finance and graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree.

With a qualification in business, your career options are endless. Combining comprehensive knowledge with real-world application, you’ll be able to tailor your career to your own interests and emerge ready to make your mark anywhere across the globe.

The Diploma of Business is an in-depth preparation program which provides guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commerce at UOW. Tertiary skills development is embedded in all subjects in the Diploma of Business which prepares you for successful participation in the second year of the degree. Emphasis is on a range of oral, written and presentation skills, including group work. Assessment is by practical tasks, essays, mid-session tests and final examinations. Subjects have a lecture and tutorial format, or lecture and laboratory format, timetabled over five days
