Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

An official transcript from the institution from which you received your bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from institution(s) where any graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed. Applicants are not required to submit an official transcript of courses taken/completed at WMU.

English Requirements

Students may demonstrate English proficiency in any of the following ways: 

  1. Minimum English proficiency test scores (for most programs)*:

    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT graduate (WMU Institutional Code: 1902)

    International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5 graduate

    Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54 graduate

    Duolingo: 105 graduate                                                                                                       

  2. International Baccalaureate, grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level

  3. General Certificate of Education: a grade of A or B in English from one of the five British-based examining boards graduate

  4. Successful completion of ELS level 112

  5. Successful completion of either four years of upper secondary school or one year of full-time tertiary (university-level) education from select countries meets WMU English language proficiency requirements

  6. Successful completion of a WMU Pathway II or the final level in the WMU Center for English Language and Culture for International Students (CELCIS)

  7. Completion of a WMU degree 

  8. Cambridge Advanced English Certificate: a grade of A or B graduate

  9. SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing Subscore (EBRW): 500 (for most programs)*

  10. Michigan English Test (MET): 57 graduate (for most programs)*

  11. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): C1 graduate (for most programs)*

Course Information

WMU’s Educational and Instructional Technology (EDT) master’s and graduate certificate programs will prepare you for exciting leadership roles in a variety of settings. Your coursework will challenge you as you develop the knowledge and skills you need to solve learning problems using innovative strategies and cutting edge tools. Both EDT programs can be completed entirely or mostly online.

Our graduate programs are designed for individuals seeking to become educational and instructional technology leaders in corporate, K-12 education, higher education and nonprofit settings. Courses are taught by passionate faculty and instructors who are innovative researchers and experienced practitioners. Our curriculum will prepare you for roles as instructional designers, corporate trainers, technology integration specialists, and learning and development managers, among others.
