Entry requirements:

English requirements:

  • If English is not your first language or you've received your education in a language other than English, students must produce evidence of their English Language Proficiency:
    • ELTS overall band of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
    • TOEFL iBT 88
    • CAEL 70, no sub-test band score less than 60
    • PTE Academic 58
    • Conestoga English Language Test (CELT) Band 6

Other requirements:

  • An Ontario College diploma, advanced diploma, degree or equivalent with an overall average grade of B or above (as assessed, by country, to Ontario standards) in any of these areas:
  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering/Technology
  • Computer Engineering/Technology
    Other relevant disciplines may also be considered, such as electronics and communications engineering and others that offer a significant degree of software development in their curriculum.
  • To be considered for admission to the co-op stream, students are required to achieve a minimum overall 80% session weighted average in Level 1 with no dropped or failed courses.
  • Students in this program are required to bring a mobile device that meets minimum specified requirements.
  • Academic eligibility for a co-op work term is based on the term that occurs two terms prior to any work term. Should a student's academic performance decline considerably (including cumulative missed courses) during the term just prior to any work term, the college reserves the right to withdraw the student from the upcoming work term.
  • Students may only fail/defer one work term regardless of the reason(s).
  • Students who do not successfully complete their deferred work term will be removed from the co-op stream.
  • Since only one work term may be failed/deferred regardless of the reason(s), should a subsequent work term be missed/failed/unsecured (not successfully completed for any reason) the student will be immediately removed from the co-op stream.
  • Students who are discontinued are not eligible for co-op work terms.

Course Information

About the Program

The Global Hospitality Management graduate certificate program is open to international students with a background in hospitality. This program will complement a diploma or degree, and enable applicants to gain a work visa in Canada to work in management jobs in the hospitality industry. Graduates of the Global Hospitality Management program will have significantly more management and finance ability specific to the hospitality industry than graduates from a diploma program in a similar Mobile Solutions Development (MSD) is a four-semester graduate certificate program, including a one-semester exploration of career management or an optional co-op in the mobile software industry. The program will offer students a strong practical background in mobile solutions design and development that encompasses different devices, operating systems, database and network infrastructures, as well as coverage of software quality and the security aspects to mobile solutions development. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term instead of the Guided Career Management course.

In the Mobile Solutions Development program, students benefit from specialized courses taught by highly qualified industry experts. As a result, students should expect to have classes scheduled up until 8:00 p.m.

  • Solve a variety of mobile computing problems using various mobile technologies.

  • Analyze current and relevant advances in computer hardware and software.

  • Analyze system requirements for a variety of mobile applications.

  • Manage information from a back-end database to a mobile front-end adhering to end-user specifications.

  • Configure, implement, and troubleshoot mobile solutions.

  • Develop and implement solutions in business and technical mobile environments using knowledge of various operating systems.

  • Implement networking and data communications systems, including the Internet, in mobile solutions.

  • Design a mobile solution in an object-oriented environment based on the analysis of customer needs.

Co-op Information

  • The College cannot guarantee co-op employment. All co-op students are required to conduct an independent co-op job search in addition to the supports and services provided by the Department of Co-op Education.

  • Students are responsible for their own transportation and associated costs in order to complete work term requirements. Work locations may not always be readily accessible by public transportation.

  • Students who are not eligible for co-op or do not secure a co-op work term by the start of the work term semester will be offered the option to enrol in the 15 credit Career Management in Canada co-op alternative. This co-op alternative involves one 3 hour on campus session per week and 12 hours per week of online and out-of-class activity.

  • If Career Management in Canada is selected, the student must attend sessions from the first session of the term and cannot transfer back into the co-op stream.

  • Career Management in Canada may be delivered at the Doon, Waterloo, or Cambridge campus.
