Admission Requirements

Entry Requirement

  • Australian bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and

English Requirement

  • Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent.

Other Requirement

  • The standard entry requirement for a postgraduate program is a completed qualification at AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above from an Australian University or an equivalent overseas higher education qualification.

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Students without an undergraduate degree may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate on the basis of relevant professional experience.

  • Relevant professional experience includes those who are currently working in education-related fields (e.g. Teacher Aides, Library/IT staff) and teachers holding alternative qualifications (e.g. DipEd).

Course Information

You will attain advanced knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with Mental Health challenges, in particular, the three most prominent issues facing contemporary educators, anxiety, depression and eating disorders; and the learning stream, which provides educators with advanced knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with a range of mental health challenges. Each of these areas of mental health addresses challenges and issues faced by mainstream teachers educational practice. This course offers a model of support and flexible tailored learning to suit individual student needs. You will advance your understanding of mental health and be able to apply positive support skills directly into a range of educational environments. This is not an accredited Australian Initial Teacher Education course and therefore does not qualify the student to teach in Australia.
