Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

Completion of a bachelor degree that includes an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council approved three-year sequence in Psychology completed within the past 10 years; and a minimum of a credit average in all level 2 and 3 Psychology subjects taken as part of that degree; or

Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council approved bridging degree that achieves foundational competencies within the past 10 years; and a minimum program GPA of 5.0; or

Other qualifications recognised by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine as equivalent to the above

English requirements

·       IELTS, 6 (no component lower than 6.0)

 

·       TOEFL (internet based), 74 (no component less than 18)

 

·       Pearson (PTE Academic), 52 (no component less than 52)

 

·       C1 Advanced/ C2 Proficiency, 169 (no component less than 169)

 

·       ISLPR, At least 3 in each skill area

 

 

Course Information

The Graduate Diploma of Psychology provides fourth year training in Psychology for students who have completed an accredited three year undergraduate psychology program.

For students who have not completed an accredited three year undergraduate psychology program, the Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Bridging) can be undertaken prior to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology.

You participate in a small group research project and learn the skills of devising and implementing a research project along with the skills of analysing data and writing a thesis.

Study the methods and ethics of scientific investigation and evidence-based practice.  Access JCU's observation suites, electrically shielded psychophysiology recording facilities, drugs and human performance research facilities.

Career Opportunity

Graduates of this course who wish to become fully registered as psychologists must complete, in addition to this course, two years of supervised practice in the field, or an accredited Masters degree with one further year of supervised practice.
