International First Year Diplomas are two-semester programmes that function as an alternative first year of an undergraduate degree for students who need additional academic and English support in their first year of undergraduate study. Successful completion of the course allows for direct entry into the second year of an undergraduate degree in the programme discipline. The overall time taken to complete the degree will be the same as if the student was able to enter the first year of their chosen undergraduate degree directly.
Successful completion of this programme allows for direct entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Business degree course. All majors, except Tourism Management and Hospitality Management, are available. Students study eight units at first-year undergraduate level (four units each semester over two semesters).
To successfully complete the programme, a student must pass all units with a grade of 50% or higher.
Units replicate the content, delivery and assessment of equivalent degree units at the University of Tasmania, along with specialised English language and academic support.
