About

General Description

Loyalist College officially opened its doors in 1967 in a local high school and by 1968 had a permanent home along Wallbridge-Loyalist Road. Two years later, the demand for more space and resourceful teaching led to the construction of the Lennox and Addington Wing to house the School of Technology and Retraining.

By 1985, further additions to both the building and College curriculum included innovative programs such as Photojournalism, Television Broadcasting and Health Sciences, and also witnessed a vital linking of the First Nations Technical Institute of Tyendinaga.

Loyalist has continued to improve and grow, adding more ground-breaking programs.  We’ve added new residences to accommodate not only Canadian students, but an increasing number of international students. The demand for more skilled trades workers inspired an additional expansion in 2010-11 with the construction of the Bay of Quinte Skills Centre. This state-of-the-art 121,800-square foot facility was built with a $16.6 million investment from the provincial and federal governments.

Thanks in large part to all these great advances, Loyalist College proudly claims an impressive 96% from Loyalist graduates who would recommend the College to their peers! Loyalist continues to strive for these impressive standings and now ranks among the top colleges in Canada.

Today, the Loyalist name prominently graces the doors at Loyalist College and continues to grow, improve and lead the way for post-secondary education.
