New Zealand itself is truly beautiful. New Zealand is renowned for its natural resources, its breathtaking scenery, its peacefulness, and the friendliness and hospitality of its people.

The country is conveniently close to Asia, Australia and the South Pacific and has a reputation for being a safe and relaxing environment to live in.

For more than 80 years, Massey University has helped shape the lives and communities of people in New Zealand and around the world. Its forward-thinking spirit, research-led teaching, and cutting-edge discoveries make Massey New Zealand’s defining university.

Why Manawatū Campus

Welcome to Massey's original campus, with lovely heritage buildings and park-like grounds located near Palmerston North city.

The large campus is beautiful year-round with 11,500 different varieties of plants and trees in the form of manicured gardens, green fields, woodlands and bush. The Massey University grounds in Manawatū are listed as a New Zealand Botanical Garden.

Palmerston North is the seventh largest city in New Zealand. It has the wealth of facilities you would expect to find in a major city - yet it is compact, friendly and accessible.

Palmerston North is a young person's city with affordable accommodation, great bars, plentiful cafés and restaurants, a multiplex cinema, live theatre and music, indoor/outdoor swimming pools, shopping, an airport and much more.

Palmerston North's central North Island location is conveniently close to west coast beaches, and within easy driving distance to the Hawke's Bay wine region, skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Ruapehu, and New Zealand's capital city, Wellington.

More than 80,000 people live in Palmerston North and a third of them are aged between 15 to 30 years. The Palmerston North community supports learning and enjoys an easy relationship with Massey's large student population.
