Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of either a Bachelor of Education degree, or a prior degree in another discipline with current teaching experience.

English Requirements

  • TOEFL iBT, 93 (no band below 20)

  • IELTS, 7.0 (no band below 6.5)

  • VIU's English Language Centre, Successful completion of Graduate Preparation Program (Grad Prep)

  • CAEL, 70 (no band below 60)

  • Pearson (PTE), 65 (no section below 60)

  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), 185 overall

  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), 185 overall

  • The Duolingo English Test (only For Fall 2020 and Spring 2021), 115

  • TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition (only For Fall 2020 and Spring 2021), 93 (no band below 20)

Course Information

The Graduate Diploma in Online Learning and Teaching is designed to provide educators, instructors, and teachers in BC and beyond with a solid foundation in the pedagogical and technical expertise required to effectively use technology to support effective distributed learning in technology-mediated environments. Students enrolled in the program will gain insight into approaches and methodologies that advance the distributed learning experience for both the learner and the facilitator/teacher.

Graduates of the Online Learning and Teaching Graduate Diploma program may apply to the Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree program with advanced standing.
